The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 high-ranking officers accused of various acts of misconduct and breaches of professional standards.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers—ranging from Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) to higher ranks—are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) in Abuja.

The hearings, which began on Monday, July 14, will run until Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, as part of an internal initiative to reinforce accountability and ensure discipline within the ranks.

Adejobi said the proceedings were aimed at maintaining the highest levels of professionalism in the Force, noting that the affected officers were drawn from various commands and formations across the country.

“The Force Disciplinary Committee is an essential internal structure responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations,” the statement read.

He added that the review process is being conducted transparently and in full compliance with the Nigeria Police Force’s internal regulations.

Following the hearings, Adejobi confirmed that the outcomes would be forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC) for final decisions on appropriate sanctions or exoneration, in accordance with due process and the law.

Reiterating the administration’s stance on discipline, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, emphasized zero tolerance for any form of indiscipline or unprofessional behavior, regardless of an officer’s rank or standing.

He stated, “The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public trust. The disciplinary process reflects the Force’s keenness to maintain an accountable and service-driven institution, where standards are upheld and the rule of law is respected from within.”
