Cheetahs of Benin Republic captain, Steve Mounié, has declared that they are motivated to beat Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture.

Mounié declared that they would work hard to secure maximum points from the game.

“I don’t think I need to motivate my teammates that much. We all know what we are playing for tomorrow which is bigger than every individual,” the forward told a press conference.

“Everyone knows what we have to do tomorrow to get qualification. I don’t need to tell my teammates much. We will give our best on the pitch.”

The Cheetahs top the Group C standings with 17 points from nine matches.

They are seeking to make their maiden appearance at the World Cup.
