2027: Call Wadada to order, or APC risks losing Nasarawa — Party chieftains tell Tinubu

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged President Bola Tinubu to rein in the party’s governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Ahmed Wadada, warning that failure to act could cost the party victory in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

The party leaders, in a statement signed by Emmanuel Zachary and Ahmed Umar, accused Wadada of deploying blackmail and intimidation in pursuit of his ambition.

They alleged that such tactics risk deepening divisions within the APC and undermining internal democracy in the state.

According to them, “political aspiration is a constitutionally guaranteed right of every citizen, and everyone should be free to pursue their ambitions without fear or intimidation”.

They further warned that attempts to force out other aspirants through undemocratic means could breed resentment and weaken the party’s chances at the polls.

“A situation where a contestant resorts to blackmail to scare away fellow aspirants is not only despicable but dangerous to our growing democracy. Democracy is a game of numbers,” the statement added.

The chieftains stressed that continued use of such tactics could lead to disunity and ultimately hand victory to opposition parties in Nasarawa.

Meanwhile, the current governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, has indicated interest in contesting for a senatorial seat in the next election cycle.
