Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has given reasons why he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’, Governor Fintiri said no one from the PDP had shown interest to contest for presidency.

He said he could not jeopardize his political future because of people who want to contest for the presidency, stressing that they should have made it clear earlier before now.

He further stated that a northerner has no business running for the office of the president in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

The governor insisted that it is the turn of the south to occupy the number one seat in the country.

DAILY POST had reported that the governor recently defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, stating that his decision was for the overall interest of Adamawa people.

“I have been a central player in this party, my former party, PDP. I have not seen any candidate in the party that has come out to tell me he wants to contest and I cannot remain and jeopardize my political future.

“A northerner has no business at the moment to vie for the office of the president. It is the turn of the south,” he said.

When asked if he still has cordial relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the governor said, “I still have. There is nothing that has gone bad. It is just that everybody has taken their political ways, and I am today in APC, they are in another party.”
