2027: Labour Party women leaders demand appeal of Abure-led faction sack

The National Women Leader, Deputy National Women Leader, South-South, and State Women Leaders of Labour Party have reaffirmed their support for the Julius Abure-led leadership of the party.

The National Women Leader of the party, Dudu Mamman Manuga, expressed the support during a virtual meeting to review key developments affecting the Party, and chart a way forward for 2026.

The women leaders extensively reviewed the recent judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on 21st January 2026 against the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure, and unanimously resolved that the decision contains fundamental errors and should be appealed.

The women leaders reaffirmed their total and unwavering support for the leadership of the Labour Party under the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure and the National Secretary, Alh. Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

They further resolved to mobilize women at the ward, local government, and state levels, urging all female members of the Party to remain steadfast, united, and hopeful in the face of the current challenge.

“We assure our support for the National Working Committee and the National Executive Council, under the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, of their continued loyalty and readiness to demonstrate solidarity with the Party at all times.

“We on all party faithful to remain calm and focused. The Labour Party has survived difficult moments in the past and has always emerged stronger,” the women said.
