Aloy Ejimakor, legal consultant to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said the continued detention of the Biafra agitator will affect the conduct of the 2027 general elections in the Southeast.

Ejimakor said Kanu’s continued detention remains a central concern for many people in the Southeast.

Posting on X, Ejimakor asserted that for Ndigbo, Kanu’s case will remain a dominant issue until what he described as “sound justice” is achieved.

He suggested that the political fortunes of key politicians in the region may rise or fall based on how the matter is addressed.

Ejimakor wrote: “For #Ndigbo, MAZI NNAMDI KANU is the main issue & will remain so until sound justice is done.

“Whether you admit it or not, his incarceration will significantly affect the general elections, especially in the Southeast where mighty politicians will fall or rise on account of it.”

Kanu is currently serving life imprisonment sentence in Sokoto Correctional Centre after he was found guilty of charges bordering on terrorism.
