A former member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will reclaim Oyo State from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2027.
Lam-Adesina, who represented Ibadan North-East/South-East federal constituency between 2015 and 2019, in a statement on Monday said reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu would help deliver the state to the ruling party.
The ex-lawmaker observed that several states previously controlled by the opposition have moved to the APC as a result of the President’s policies. He stressed that Oyo cannot afford to be left behind.
Lam-Adesina also cited the party’s recent online registration exercise, noting that grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 33 local government areas will ensure victory for the APC in the next general election.
“For nearly eight years, Oyo State has been in the opposition and that does not bode well for us. With the trend across the country, we cannot afford to remain in the opposition come 2027,” he said.
“Other states controlled by the opposition have willingly joined the APC because they understand what it means to align with power at the centre. We will make sure that Oyo returns to the progressives and aligns with the Federal Government. We stand to benefit more from such alignment than remaining in the opposition.
“What this means is that the President’s reforms are speaking for themselves and those governors have seen the impact.
“For us in Oyo, we must also take advantage of the president’s good governance, which has seen more funds allocated to local governments, to drive grassroots development and ensure victory in 2027,” Lam-Adesina said.
Speaking on his political career ahead of 2027, Lam-Adesina said he is still consulting with stakeholders across his constituency and the state at large.
“Consultations are ongoing and, in the days, to come, my supporters and well-wishers will know where we are heading as far as 2027 is concerned,” he explained.
