Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said that he is going back to contest for the Senate because the law allows one to contest for Senate as many times possible.
Sani said this during an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television.
He lamented that Nigerians are more concerned about who becomes the president of the country without usually taking seriously who becomes their lawmakers.
“I’m going back to the Senate because the laws allow it for you to go back to the Senate. There is no tenure in going to the National Assembly, whether it’s the Senate or the House of Representatives, and when your people felt that you have a lot to deliver, and you have a duty and responsibility to ensure they are well represented there.
“Nigerians are more concerned of who become the president of the country, they don’t usually take seriousness on who becomes their lawmakers, whether at the state level or at the federal level, and it’s very important.
“If you have a vibrant Senate, a potent Senate, if you have one that respects his integrity, his independent and the sanctity of his identity, you will have good governance in the country,” he said.
