Veteran Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello has opened up about a major personal decision she made 26: years ago regarding childbirth.
The thespian revealed that she underwent a medical procedure to prevent having more children.
The actress said she had her fallopian tubes tied in 2020, a decision she said was based on her desire to limit the number of children she would have.
Bello made the revelation during a discussion about motherhood on her YouTube channel, Shaffy Bello TV, which was aired to scores of her fans on Sunday evening.
According to the actress, the decision came despite her former husband’s wish for them to expand their family. She said he had pleaded with her to have another child, but she had already decided that she did not want to have many children.
Explaining the procedure, Bello said doctors performed the operation through her navel, where her fallopian tubes were tied to prevent future pregnancies.

She described the procedure as simple and said it permanently stopped the release of eggs required for conception.
Bello noted that she had always been clear about the kind of family size she wanted and did not feel pressured to have more children.
“My ex-husband had to beg for me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.
“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs.”
The actress added humorously that if she ever became pregnant after the procedure, it would feel miraculous.
“I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary — it’s a holy child,” she said.
