The Chief Magistrate Court I sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded two suspects in prison custody over the alleged killing of a 14-year-old boy, Nyalli Muktari.

The defendants, Safiyanu Mohammed, 22, and Muhammed Bello, 20, both of Shelleng Local Government Area, were ordered to be remanded at a correctional centre by the Chief Magistrate, Bello Ismail.

They are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, theft, and culpable homicide, contrary to Sections 60, 248, 276, and 191 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law.

Earlier, while arraigning the defendants, the police prosecutor, ASP Zakka Musa, told the court that the offences were committed on March 30, 2026.

He said the Divisional Police Headquarters in Shelleng received a report about the disappearance of the deceased from Babban Dada village in Shelleng LGA.

According to him, the boy’s body was later discovered in a nearby bush during a search operation, and the defendants were subsequently arrested during investigation.

The prosecutor further told the court that the defendants allegedly sent the victim to the house of one Saidu Modi to collect a mobile phone from his wife under the pretence that her husband had requested it.

He said the boy delivered the phone to the defendants, but when they realised he could identify them, they allegedly strangled him and dumped his body in a nearby bush.

Musa added that police operatives tracked the mobile phone, which led to the arrest of the suspects, who reportedly confessed to the crime.
