Adamawa govt clarifies delay, warns against fake civil service appointment letters

The Adamawa State Government has urged successful civil service job applicants to remain calm and expect their employment letters through their respective email addresses.

The appeal was made on Thursday afternoon after the government observed irregularities in the issuance of appointment letters, with reports that some unsuccessful applicants had been given fake offer letters.

The Adamawa State Civil Service Commission said  although authentic appointment messages were initially scheduled to be issued on the 31st of December, 2025, the release is unavoidably being delayed.

The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Abubakar Maiha, urged applicants to remain patient, noting that the commission is working tirelessly to ensure that genuine appointment letters are issued before the end of the week.

Maiha’s appeal came about 24 hours after Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Awwal Tukur, addressed the press on how the civil service recruitment ran into a hitch and how the government had intervened to retrieve what was intended from the beginning to be a most transparent and fair process.

Tukur, indicating that the process was infiltrated by job racketeers who were issuing letters to unqualified candidates, assured that such letters would have no effect and only letters based on the original list of qualified candidates and sent electronically to such candidates via their personal emails would be acceptable.

Tukur had disclosed that 4,200 applicants made the final list for the recruitment process.

Daily Post recalls that over 90,000 people had applied when the recruitment process began early in 2025.

The applicants were put through different vetting procedures at separate times and went down first to over 50,000 and then further down to over 8,000 and finally to the 4,200 who are now to be issued their employment letters.
