The Adamawa State Police Command says it has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, for the alleged killing of a 5-year-old boy in Lamurde Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said this in a statement on Sunday and shared on the force’s Facebook page.
He said the boy, identified as Abba Bashiru, was reported missing on August 30, 2025, by his mother, Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno community.
She told the police that her son was last seen with Hassan.
“On the strength of that, the command’s operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Tingno, swiftly led an operation and arrested the said Isiaka Hassan, who during interrogation confessed to having conspired with one yet to be arrested to kill the boy and bury him in a shallow grave,” Nguroje said.
Police later exhumed the child’s body and took it to the hospital for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State CID to take over the investigation and arrest the second suspect still on the run.
“The Command reassures members of the public of its commitment to ensure justice is served and calls for continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the State,” the statement added.
