ADC dismisses alleged sack of David Mark-led exco by Appeal Court

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has clarified that the recent judgment by the Court of Appeal does not affect the party’s current leadership.

National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, made the clarification in a statement posted on X on Saturday.

The statement said the court’s ruling in an appeal filed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, was purely procedural and did not determine the substantive dispute regarding the leadership of the ADC.

The statement emphasized that the ongoing suit challenging the emergence of Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary is still pending before the Federal High Court and has yet to be decided on its merits.

“The Court of Appeal did not grant any relief in favor of the plaintiff, nor did it issue any order affecting the leadership structure of the party.

“On the contrary, the court ordered that parties should maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit,” the statement said.

Members of the ADC were urged not to be misled by misinterpretations of the judgment, as the ruling does not affect the legitimacy or tenure of the current national leadership.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to unity and focus, despite what it described as efforts by anti-democratic forces to impose a one-party rule in Nigeria.
