Member of the Parliament of Ghana, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has hailed referee Daniel Laryea for his ‘outstanding officiating’ during Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final defeat to Morocco on Wednesday.
Yaw Boamah insisted that Laryea truly lifted the flag of Ghana with his performance during the encounter, adding that he would continue to be an inspiration to young Ghanaian referees.
Laryea suffered criticism from fans of the Super Eagles for his officiating as Morocco defeated Nigeria 4-2 via penalties.
The fans believe the referee was biased with his officiating, favouring the AFCON host nation with most of his decisions during the match.
However, in a post on X, Yaw Boamah also congratulated Laryea.
“Congratulations to Referee Daniel Laryea on his outstanding performance in officiating the Nigeria vs Morocco match. He has truly lifted the flag of Ghana high and continues to be an inspiration to young referees across the country,” he tweeted.
“Kudos to Morocco and Senegal on reaching the final of the AFCON. Wishing both teams the very best.”
