Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded another major success in the ongoing “Operation Lafiya Nakowa” aimed at clearing terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements from Taraba State.
During the operation, the troops, according to a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Jalingo by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lt. Umar Muhammad, were deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area and launched a clearance operation on 14 October 2025, targeting suspected terrorist hideouts in Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages.
The troops were said to have encountered the terrorists at Badekoshi, forcing them to flee toward Fajul village near the forest.
“The soldiers pursued the fleeing suspects with superior firepower, dislodging them from their positions,” the army said.
A thorough search of the area, according to the soldiers, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during an earlier attack on Tapga village.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to maintain the momentum until all criminal elements are eliminated from Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and pledged continued collaboration with security agencies and local communities to achieve lasting peace in the region.
