Ahead of the planned defection of the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, to African Democratic Congress, ADC, his political ally, Mr Oseloka Obaze, has moved ahead of him to the party.

Obi will on December 31, at a grand rally in Enugu, declare his defection to the ADC alongside many other notable politicians including Anambra Central senator, Victor Umeh, and senator representing Abia North, Enyinnaya Abaribe.

Obaze, a longstanding ally of Peter Obi, who served as Secretary to the State Government, SSG, during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State, and later his anointed candidate for governorship of the state, announced his defection to ADC on Monday.

Obaze resigned from the Labour Party eight months ago, saying he did so on grounds of principles.

But in an announcement he made on social media on Monday, Obaze said: “Eight months ago, I disengaged from partisan politics and from my erstwhile political party on grounds of principles.

“Today, I wish to announce that I’m now a proud card-carrying member of ADC.  We walk the talk. We must Rethink and Reunite Nigeria.  Much work lies ahead.”
