Albania has purportedly nominated an AI chatbot as its new Minister of Corruption, a decision that has shocked both citizens and analysts in the tech industry and beyond.
The historic ruling, which was revealed at a press conference in Tirana, is being characterized as a daring attempt to use artificial intelligence to monitor public funds, fight corruption, and maintain transparency.
The government claims the chatbot—nicknamed “AIlbania”—will be tasked with handling reports of corruption, cross-checking financial data, and even questioning officials flagged for suspicious activities.
“This is the future,” a senior government spokesperson declared. “An incorruptible system to deal with corruption. The chatbot will not take bribes, will not bow to political pressure, and will process complaints 24/7.”

Reactions, however, have been mixed. Supporters argue that technology could provide the impartial oversight long missing in Albania’s fight against corruption. Critics, on the other hand, warn that relying on an AI system raises questions about accountability, transparency of its algorithms, and whether human oversight will still be required.
Social media has exploded with memes and jokes, with some users quipping that the “Minister of Corruption” title seems ironic—since the AI will technically now be the most powerful anti-corruption watchdog in the country.
If successful, Albania’s bold experiment could set a global precedent, making it the first nation to hand a ministerial post to artificial intelligence. For now, all eyes are on “AIlbania” and whether it can truly outsmart human greed.
