A Benue State politician, Ewaoche Benjamin Obe and his estranged wife, Mrs Christiana Owofuni Obe are in the news again following an alleged move by the latter to disobey an order of a High Court in Abuja.
DAILY POST had reported how the former governorship candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2023 Benue gubernatorial election, Mr Obe was thrown out of his Abuja house after his wife reportedly used the property as collateral for a loan.
Obe subsequently approached a High Court in Bwari Area Council where he filed a case challenging an alleged false claim by his estranged wife, Jesryte Global Resources Ltd and Mr Thomas Onuh, who are the defendants.
The presiding judge, Justice M. A. Madugu, after hearing from the counsels to both the claimant and the defendants, ordered the parties to maintain status quo in respect of the property located at No. 8 Ayo Solomon Crescent, Sagwari Layout, Dutse Makaranta, Bwari Area Council pending the hearing and determination of the suit with reference No. CV/1664/25.”
The judge then adjourned the matter to the 12th of November, 2025 for definite hearing.
However, contrary to the court order, fully armed personnel of the Nigerian Air Force linked to the estranged wife, allegedly invaded the property on Tuesday.
According to residents, barely 24 hours after the court gave the order on July 16, the officers had first, stormed the property and allegedly destroyed the order notice pasted on the gate and the fence.
They also allegedly destroyed the padlock and chains on the gate.
Viral video clips sighted by our correspondent captured the armed personnel surrounding the property in disobedience to the court order pasted on the property.
Several armed personnel with three armored and personnel carrier vans belonging to the Nigeria Air Force could be seen in the trending still and motion pictures.
Our correspondent further gathered that the claimant upon hearing about the first incident, reported the matter to the police and pleaded with the authorities to re-paste the order.
However, the Estate community raised the alarm on Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2025 alleging that the armed Air Force personnel numbering over twenty invaded the Estate again in three armored personnel carrier vans to destroy the re-pasted court order.
When contacted, the defendant, Mrs Christiana Owofuni Obe (estranged wife) who works with the Nigeria Air Force Conference Center, Abuja, declined speaking on the matter.
She, however, promised to forward her lawyer’s phone to speak on her behalf.
“Would you like to speak with my lawyers? I will forward details to you”, she said.
Meanwhile, despite reminders through text messages, she is yet to forward the contact as at the time of filing this report.
