The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major operational success following a series of precision air strikes on terrorist enclaves in Kangarwa, Borno State, with no fewer than 15 fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, reportedly neutralised.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on Friday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X handle.
According to sources, the strikes, conducted on the basis of credible intelligence, targeted key insurgent infrastructure and gathering points within the Kangarwa axis, a known stronghold of the ISWAP group.
Battle damage assessment, BDA, from highly reliable sources confirmed that the strikes inflicted significant casualties on the terrorists’ ranks, while several others sustained severe injuries.
“The operation achieved a high degree of precision. Intelligence indicates that at least 15 ISWAP fighters were neutralised, with multiple others wounded.
The strike also impacted a structure linked to a senior terrorist commander in the area,” the sources said.
Makama noted that the residence of a top ISWAP figure, identified as Malam Nuhu, believed to be the Qaid of Kangarwa, was struck shortly after he vacated the premises.
“Although the target narrowly escaped, the structure was destroyed, and other occupants within the building were eliminated,” he added.
He emphasised that the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai continues to refine its targeting processes while maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements.
The latest strikes form part of ongoing air operations aimed at dismantling ISWAP’s operational capabilities and leadership structure across the North-East theatre.
Further battle damage assessment is ongoing, including reports from related air operations in the Dogon Chukun axis.
Military high command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining coordinated air-ground offensives to degrade terrorist networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
