Nigerian comedian Jephthah Bowoto, popularly known as Akpororo, has pushed back strongly against allegations made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, escalating an already heated online dispute that has drawn widespread public attention.
Ogala had accused the comedian of sleeping with women and refusing to pay them, claiming she possessed a video showing Akpororo fleeing in his boxers after allegedly failing to pay two women. The claims surfaced amid Ogala’s ongoing public feud with Pastor Chris Okafor, in which Akpororo had previously weighed in.
Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Akpororo dismissed the allegations as baseless and mocked the actress, describing her as unserious and questioning her credibility. He laughed off the claims and suggested Ogala should seek medical attention, referencing what he described as her frequent and erratic online appearances.
The comedian went further by challenging Ogala to substantiate her own past claims. He dared the actress to release photographs or videos allegedly showing her relationship with Pastor Chris Okafor, which she has previously claimed lasted for an extended period. According to Akpororo, such evidence would be necessary to convince the public that her allegations against him and others were credible.
In a subsequent video, Akpororo said he had begun compiling evidence of his own after facing backlash online for intervening in Ogala’s dispute with the cleric. He suggested he would be prepared to defend himself if the accusations continued.
The exchange has triggered intense reactions on social media, with many users siding with Akpororo and criticising Ogala over what they described as unproven and inflammatory allegations. Others, however, argued that the public nature of the exchanges risks trivialising serious claims that deserve proper investigation.
Ogala has, in recent weeks, made multiple allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor and another cleric, Pastor Psalm Okpe. In one video—later deleted—she alleged abuse and claimed her life had been ruined by the pastors, adding that she was not afraid of dying and that her time on earth might be short. No official findings or legal outcomes have been announced regarding those claims.
