Two men have killed their own 37-year-old brother in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, after a violent dispute over family inheritance.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in Lake Chad region, the incident occurred at about 4:50PM on February 11, 2026, at Umunkwo Village, Ula, Ekwulobia.

The victim, identified as Onyedika Okpala, was reportedly attacked with machetes by two of his brothers, Okwudili Okpala and Chigbo Okpala, during a heated argument over property and inheritance rights.

Makama said a family source revealed that the suspects inflicted severe injuries on the victim’s head, causing him to bleed profusely and collapse unconscious at the scene.

A team of operatives was said to have immediately been dispatched to the area, but the suspects had fled before their arrival.

“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Ekwulobia, where a doctor on duty confirmed him dead on arrival. His corpse has been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy.

“Investigation has commenced, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” Makama said.
