Anthony Joshua stops Jake Paul in sixth round

Anthony Joshua knocked out Jake Paul in the sixth round of their Miami mismatch, which has become one of the most striking mismatches in the sport’s history.

Paul, who spent much of the contest in survival mode, failed to deliver on his promise to pull off the greatest upset in sporting history.

The 28-year-old did manage to land a handful of shots, but as the contest stretched into the sixth round, it was Joshua who stayed on to win.

“It wasn’t the best performance,” Joshua, who claimed his 29th victory of his professional career in 33 outings, said.

“The end goal was to pin Jake Paul down and hurt him. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination.”

The 36-year-old Nigerian-born British will now turn his attention to a legitimate challenge, notably the long-mooted showdown with Tyson Fury next year.
