Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, has urged police personnel attached to the Gender/Family Units of the Osun State Police Command to apply knowledge and add positive effects to security architecture and better policing in the state.
Gotan also expressed his commitment to strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure a secure Osun State.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi on Thursday, the Osun police boss gave this charge while addressing participants at a two day intensive seminar organised by Centre for Women’s Health and Information, CEWHIN, “Tagged Strengthening Existing VAWG/SGBV Pevention and Response Structure for Women and Girls with Disabilities in Lagos and Osun State.”
Represented by DSP Ojelabi, CP Gotan who appreciated the organisers of the seminar said, “We appreciate the organisers for this gesture and urge participants to ensure that the knowledge acquired positively impacts the security architecture and policing outcomes in Osun State.
“The Police in Osun State remains committed to strengthening collaboration with relevant stakeholders to improve service delivery and ensure a safer environment for all residents.”
Participants were trained on issues surrounding violence against women and girls with disabilities, with emphasis placed on appropriate intervention strategies and inclusive support mechanisms.
The seminar also covered psychosocial support for survivors of rape, as well as legal frameworks including the Child Rights Act and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) laws.
Police authorities noted that the training would enhance officers’ capacity to investigate and manage cases effectively, while ensuring that survivors receive proper care and access to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Gotan, was represented at the event by the command’s spokesperson, who conveyed the command’s appreciation to the organisers.
