The Kebbi State Government has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of serving and retired members of the Armed Forces, as well as families of fallen soldiers.
Governor Nasir Idris stated this on Thursday during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
As part of the event, the governor laid a wreath in honour of fallen military personnel who died in the line of duty while defending the country’s unity and security.
Speaking at the ceremony, Idris said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces and to acknowledge their contributions to national peace and stability.
He expressed sympathy to the families of deceased soldiers and assured them of continued government support.
The governor said his administration had taken steps to strengthen security in the state, including providing patrol vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies, as well as supporting the training of local vigilante groups.
He also commended serving and retired military personnel for their service to the country and urged Nigerians to promote peace and unity.
The ceremony featured a guard of honour, parade, and prayers for fallen soldiers.
