Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday, February 10, held a closed-door meeting with former Military President Ibrahim Babangida at his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Atiku said his visit was aimed at strengthening the structures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State and was not connected to any 2027 presidential ambition. At this point, this is not about me contesting elections. It is about Nigerians who want electronic transmission of election results, Atiku said.He stated that his engagement centred on growing public demand for real-time electronic transmission of election results, arguing that it would enhance transparency and reduce disputes. The preference of Nigerians is clear. They want real-time electronic transmission of results. What we have now is a mixture of electronic and manual uploading, which only causes confusion and chaos, he said.Atiku criticised what he described as the blending of electronic and manual processes in the amended Electoral Act, claiming it creates room for uncertainty during elections. He called on opposition parties to unite in challenging the Senates position on the transmission of results. We need all opposition political parties to pursue this issue. We should not allow it to rest the way they want it to rest at the Senate, he said. The former vice president also confirmed that he is now a member of the ADC and that the party is focusing on grassroots mobilisation across the country.I am a member of the ADC, and we are working to ensure our structures are firmly rooted from the ward level to local government, state, and national levels. We are mobilising and registering members across the country, Atiku added.Although he did not disclose the specific details of his discussion with Babangida, Atiku noted that his visit to the elder statesman was not his first.Governor Makinde declined to speak with journalists. He was said to have remained inside Babangidas residence after Atikus departure and was described as being on a private visit.Atiku arrived in Minna at about 1:30 p.m., proceeding directly from the airport to Babangidas hilltop residence. Makinde arrived later at approximately 2:10 p.m., about 30 minutes after Atiku had left. The former vice president was accompanied by several ADC leaders and stakeholders, including Rivers State ADC governorship aspirant Baba Agaie, former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Ben Obi, Senator Ozemina from Edo State, Niger State ADC Chairman Musa Hassan and other party officials. The post Atiku and Governor Makinde hold closed-door meeting with IBB appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
