Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has predicted that it is now the turn of Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe to win the Ballon d’Or.

The Englishman said that the attacker stands a good chance of claiming his first ever Ballon d’Or next September

This is because, according to him, the Frenchman has been in solid form for club and country.

The 27-year-old World winner has scored 29 goals already thid season providing five assists in 24 games across competitions for Real Madrid.

In LaLiga alone, he is leading the chart with 18 goals and a further nine in the UEFA Champions League, where the Frenchman is the top-scorer.

For his country, he has helped Didier Deschamps side to make it to the next World Cup with five goals and three assists.

Carragher told the Telegraph that Mbappe could go all the way to win the individual gong.

“In a World Cup year, the Ballon d’Or is always won by the star player of the victorious country. As France are my prediction to win in the United States, this could be Kylian Mbappé’s year.

“He was third, behind Lionel Messi and Haaland, after France were beaten in the last World Cup.”
