Armed men suspected to be bandits have abducted a traditional titleholder, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammadu Bello, during a violent attack on Karaduwa village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a post on Saturday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on X, the attackers stormed the village at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday, riding motorcycles.
They reportedly broke into the home of the 60-year-old, who holds the title of Wakilin Hakimin Matazu, and dragged him away to an unknown location.
The invasion triggered a rapid response from security forces, as the Divisional Police Officer in Matazu led a team using Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, to the scene in an effort to intercept the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
However, the suspects had already fled before security operatives arrived.
Police authorities confirmed that intensified surveillance and tracking operations are ongoing to locate the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the abducted titleholder.
Residents of Karaduwa and neighbouring communities have been advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
