Bandits on late Monday night attacked Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing three people and abducting three others.
The attack reportedly took place around 11 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, plunging the community into mourning and renewing calls for an improved security presence to restore peace.
Mr. Ishaya Dauda, the National Secretary of Bundu Kahugu community, confirmed the incident to Daily Post on Tuesday, saying the assailants invaded the village at night and began shooting sporadically, terrorizing residents.
Dauda explained that the community had suffered a similar attack barely two weeks ago, during which four people were killed, raising concerns over repeated assaults on the area.
According to him, “Monday’s attack is the second of its kind in less than two weeks in the community. The attackers came late at night and began shooting, killing three people instantly, while three others were taken away.”
He identified the victims killed during the latest attack as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu, and Ezra Namata.
Dauda appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the area to prevent further attacks and enable residents to go about their daily lives.
He also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage in the community, saying the attackers often exploit poor communication networks to operate freely and escape without resistance, as residents struggle to communicate security challenges.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, Mansir Hussaini, could not be reached for comment as his phone line was not responding.
