Baring any last minute change of plans, it seems the Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed may have bowed to pressure, as he is reportedly set to dump the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was gathered that the governor may announce his intentions tomorrow (Tuesday).

Mohammed, along with Oyo State’s Seyi Makinde, have remained the only two PDP governors standing tall and vocal in the midst of the gail of defections that has hit the PDP, in the after of the crisis that has torn the party apart.

There are also rumors that Makinde may also soon abandon the PDP ship in furtherance of his political career.

The chances of both men taking control of the party and saving the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections had deemed with the appeal court judgment that gave control of the party to a faction loyal to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesome Wike.

With the victory, Wike set tough conditions for his opponents who want to reconcile and stay in the party.

Mohammed is said to have made his decision to quit the party, after a recent visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Mohammed is not eligible for re-election as he is rounding up a second term in office, but he would be keen to determine who succeeds him, an issue that is likely to cause friction if he is accepted into the APC fold in Bauchi.
