
Police operatives in Benue State have successfully thwarted an armed attack by suspected bandits in Ugba, killing one of the assailants and apprehending another.
According to reliable sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 13, 2026, around 3:20 a.m., after security agencies received intelligence that hoodlums were moving toward the community.
Following the alert, a patrol team was immediately deployed to the area to intercept the attackers. On sighting the operatives, the bandits reportedly opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunshots.
During the confrontation, one of the suspects was fatally wounded. His body was later evacuated and deposited at a mortuary.
Security personnel also recovered a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle bearing the inscription “Chen I Tiv,” believed to belong to the gang. One suspect was arrested at the scene, while other members escaped into nearby bushes.
Sources further revealed that security operatives have intensified surveillance and search operations in surrounding areas to track down the fleeing suspects and make additional arrests.
