A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South, Chief Bode George, said on Friday Nigeria’s electoral process must remain credible during the 2027 general elections.
George, a former military governor of Ondo State, made the remarks in an open letter to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
“I must emphasise that the integrity of our electoral process must remain sacrosanct.
“There must be no manipulation whatsoever by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in any form or manner.
“The will of the Nigerian people must prevail freely, transparently, and without interference.
“Anything short of this undermines democracy and risks eroding the foundation of our nation’s unity and legitimacy.

“May God grant you wisdom to discern truth, humility to act, and strength to lead rightly,” George wrote.
He warned that interference in the electoral system would undermine democracy and weaken national unity and legitimacy.
According to him, Nigeria’s stability, unity, and democratic future are under visible strain.
“I speak out of conviction, experience, and duty to truth, not anger or partisanship, but sincere patriotism and faith in Almighty God.
“What is unfolding within our political space today raises grave concern. Democracy cannot survive where opposition is weakened, ridiculed, or systematically neutralised.
“A country governed without credible dissent is not stable; it is volatile.
“What sustains leadership is trust, built on fairness, equity, transparency and justice. Today, that trust is under pressure.
“Leadership demands the courage to hear truth, not just loyalty,” the PDP chieftain added.
