The Oyo State Police Command has begun investigation into the cause of the d3ath of a teenage boy found in the University of Ibadan swimming pool. The Commands spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday said that information gathered from the institutions Chief Security Officer revealed that the body of the victim, aged between 14 years and 15 years, was sighted on the surface of the swimming pool in the early hours of Thursday. Olayinka said police detectives immediately visited the scene while a preliminary investigation revealed blood oozing from the mouth and nose with slight bruises on the nose. He said that items suspected to belong to the deceased, including a pair of shoes and a shirt, were found close to the pool, and blood stains were also observed within the pavilion area. The PPRO said that the body was later evacuated to the General Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan, where he was confirmed dead on arrival and subsequently deposited at the mortuary. According to him, the case is being treated as a suspected murder, and the Command has commenced a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. He urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information as investigations were ongoing.
