
Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited victims of the recent bomb blast at the Gamboru Market Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, to commiserate with those affected and pledge federal government support.
The visit was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the spokesman and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha.
According to the statement, Shettima met with victims receiving medical treatment and conveyed the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government to the injured and families of those who lost their lives.
The Vice President assured the victims that the government would continue to provide necessary assistance and support following the tragic incident.
Daily Post had earlier reported that at least five people were killed while 35 others sustained injuries in the explosion, which occurred on Wednesday evening during Maghrib prayers at the Al-Adum Jumaat Mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
Security agencies have since intensified surveillance across the area as investigations into the incident continue.
