Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed four Boko Haram terrorists during a foiled attack and rescued three kidnapped victims in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on April 12, following reports of suspicious movement by suspected terrorists along the Damboa–Chibok axis.
Troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, deployed in an ambush position at Mussa, were said to have engaged the insurgents after making contact.
“The troops engaged the terrorists with effective firepower, killing four of them and forcing others to withdraw while abandoning weapons and other items,” the sources said.
The sources added that at about 6:15 a.m., troops carried out follow-up operations near Old Hyum, where they rescued three kidnapped victims from a suspected terrorist enclave.
The victims, identified as Fulani, were said to be from the Lagunasa community in Askira Uba Local Government Area.
They are currently receiving care, while troops continue clearance operations in the area.
