King Charles is facing backlash from his subject over a statement he made at the State Banquet hosting Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and wife Remi Tinubu. Speaking during the banquet which held at St. Georges Hall in Windsor Castle, the British monarch said: "Nigeria has long shown: that people of different faiths can, do, and must live alongside one another, in peace, in harmony and in shared purpose." This part of his statement was shared on X and led to criticisms from Brits. Tim Dieppe, Head of Public Policy at Christian Concern, wrote: "Does he have no idea of the level of persecution of Christians in Nigeria?" Brit John Bortho also reacted, writing: "Christians are being slaughtered in Nigeria. Ours is a Christian country and always will be. You are Defender of the Faith, Charles. Do your job! We built this country not your muslim chums. We English were made to endure. You cant erase us." "Christians are slaughtered en masse in Nigeria. King Charles is profoundly misguided," David Vance wrote. "And here we have the King of England willfully ignoring the genocide of Christians in Nigeria," Huckleberry added. Nigerians also reacted on the post."Im sure the king is just reading the script given to him without actually knowing the reality of what he is talking about," Ola Dammy wrote. See some comments below. The post Brits call out King Charles for saying Nigerians are living in religious harmony amid "persecution of Christians" appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
