Nigerian music superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has shed light on why fans shouldn’t expect him to start a family anytime soon, despite hinting at the idea during his recent 34th birthday celebration.
The Grammy-winning singer, who previously revealed he was considering settling down after a conversation with businessman Jowizaza, has now admitted that family life isn’t in his immediate plans. In a candid interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, Burna Boy spoke openly about his private life, the demands of his career, and why fatherhood will have to wait.
When asked if he was thinking about having children soon, the Higher crooner responded honestly:
“Yeah, but I don’t want to start that on the road. I’m not planning on quitting tours anytime soon, so I don’t know where to now put that, find a middle ground.”
Burna Boy explained that the kind of family life he envisions can’t be built while constantly traveling, performing, and living out of suitcases. For now, he’s fully committed to his music journey and doesn’t believe fatherhood is something to take on half-heartedly or in between world tours.
In the same interview, the African Giant also revealed an interesting fact about his lifestyle: he has never taken a proper holiday since launching his music career. “I haven’t gone on a holiday since I started. One of the reasons is that I don’t have children. So there’s nothing really pulling me to take a break,” he added.
For Burna Boy, it appears the road remains his first love, with family life reserved for a quieter chapter in the future.
