Catholic Bishop of Otukpo Diocese visits victims of attacks in Benue

The Catholic Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Most Rev.Michael Apochi, on Sunday expressed solidarity with victims of the recent herdsmen attack on Edikwu Ankpali community, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, praying God to console them in their time of pain.

The visit was both a pastoral care and support for the affected victims to cushion the hardships from the attacks that saw gunmen kill scores of people, injure dozens, and destroy houses in the community.

The visit was organized in collaboration with the Justice, Development and Peace Commission, JDPC,

The Coordinator of JDPC, Fr. Emmanuel Ejeh Esq. played the key role in facilitating the Bishop’s engagement with the victims.

During the visit, the Bishop expressed sorrow over the tragic events and offered prayers for healing and strength to those impacted by the violence.

He emphasized the importance of community support and unity in the face of such adversity, highlighting the need for peace and dialogue to prevent future conflicts.

“We are here to tell you that you are not alone. We have also come to pray with you so that God will heal your wounds and grant total peace to this land, the state and Nigeria in general.

He said the visit served as a reminder of the church’s commitment to social justice and the importance of standing with those who are suffering.
