Chelsea make enquiry of another striker following Nicolas Jackson's saga

Chelsea Football Club are reportedly looking for another forward player incase Nicolas Jackson joins Bayern Munich on a permanent move.

The Blues were forced to go into the transfer market with less than 48 hours to the end of the 2025 summer transfer window for a striker after the injury to Liam Delap. The former Ipswich player suffered a hamstring injury during the London derby against Fulham on Saturday, August 30, 2025 which leaves the club with João Pedro as the only recognised striker going into the rest of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea reached out immediately to put a hold to Nicolas Jackson's transfer to Bayern but the player has remained adamant they he would not return to Stamford Bridge. The Senegal international is reportedly upset with the way Chelsea left him out of the first team and they only want him back because of Delap's injury.

The Club World Cup Champions have notifed Bayern Munich that the only way they will go ahead with the deal if they sign him permanently. The money made will be used to get another striker before the window closes.

The Athletic confirmed on its website that one of the names Chelsea are looking at is Cornard Harder from Sporting Lisbon.

Who is Cornard Harder?

He is one of Europe’s brightest young talents, rising from FC Nordsjælland’s academy—where he netted 27 goals in 24 U-19 games—to a high-profile move to Sporting CP in September 2024 for €19 million.

Harder is being compared to Viktor Gyökeres for his finishing and physical style, and with a long-term contract and €80 million release clause, he is firmly established as one of the most exciting rising stars in European football.
