US President Donald Trump has said that China has agreed not to supply weapons to Iran as tensions in the Middle East continue under what he described as “Operation Epic Fury”.
In a statement on his social media handle, Trump suggested that the United States and China are cooperating to avoid further escalation in the region.
Trump wrote: “They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran. President Xi Jinping will give me a big, fat hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly and very well! Doesn’t that beat fighting??? BUT REMEMBER, we are very good at fighting, if we have to – far better than anyone else!!!”
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions involving Iran, the US, and Israel, with concerns about the potential for a wider conflict.
