A former Mayor of Blanco, Texas, in the United States, Mike Arnold, has called on Nigerian public officials to do serious soul-searching over allegations of Christian genocide in the country instead of denying the fact that Christians are being killed by the day.
Arnold who is the founder of Africa Arise International with the goal of raising awareness and action against violent persecution of Christians in sub-Saharan Africa, made the charge in a post on X on Thursday, saying public officials in Nigeria should rather conduct thorough investigations into the allegations instead of living in denial and trying to push narratives that there is no genocide in the country.
In the message titled “To all Nigerian public officials,” Arnold said:
“It would be safe for you to assume that there will eventually be Nuremberg-style trials as justice is ultimately delivered in the Nigerian holocaust.
“This is a time for you to do serious soul-searching. When the dust settles, what side of history do you want to be on? What legacy do you want to leave for your children, grandchildren, and your country?
“Step back and look at what’s really happening here. You have no idea the level of scrutiny, the brightness of the light of truth, that is coming your way.
“And here you are mincing words, spreading falsehoods and attacking truth-tellers — trying to obfuscate the issue, and deflect international attention.
“How many will die because of your cowardice? How will history judge you and your actions? Will your grandchildren change their names to not be associated with your infamy?
“At this point, silence is complicity. Nobody has passed the point of repentance until it’s too late. There is still time.
