Christmas: Zulum urges Borno residents to protect sacred bond of unity

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has called on residents to protect the sacred bond that unites them, regardless of ethno-religious or political differences.

In a Christmas message issued by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Zulum extended warm felicitations to Christians across the state, thanking God for sparing their lives to witness another festive season.

The governor, who is currently on a four-day security and resilience-building tour across northern Borno, is visiting military formations to boost troop morale and communities affected by insurgency to rebuild confidence and deliver tangible democratic dividends.

Zulum highlighted the progress Borno has made over the past year, not only in infrastructure but also in peace, mutual goodwill, and harmonious coexistence between Muslim and Christian communities, despite the disruptions caused by Boko Haram insurgency.

He recalled his recent consultation with the leadership of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the state government and religious bodies to combat insecurity and foster lasting peace.

“Our strength comes from our shared lives,” Zulum said. “Brothers, sisters, uncles, and aunts often live under one roof, sharing meals, celebrations, and grief, transcending religious labels.

This sacred bond must be protected in our homes and communities.”

He urged all citizens, regardless of faith, to unite in pursuing lasting security, peace, and harmonious coexistence, which he described as critical foundations for genuine reconstruction, recovery, and prosperity in Borno State.
