A Kano High Court has issued an interim order stopping the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) and other parties from interfering in the affairs of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano.

The order was given by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji of the Kano State High Court while ruling on an ex parte motion filed by the management of the university.

In the suit, the Kano State Government, the PCACC, the Kano State House of Assembly, the state Attorney-General and some concerned parents were listed as respondents.

Justice Ma’aji, in the ruling dated December 11, 2025, restrained the respondents or anyone acting on their behalf from inviting officials of the university or interfering in its academic and administrative activities, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

The court also directed all parties to maintain the status quo between the applicant and the first respondent until the originating summons is fully determined.

Speaking after the ruling, counsel to MAAUN, Zahraddeen M. Bello, said the decision of the court reaffirmed the importance of the rule of law and due process.

“The university will continue to operate strictly within the confines of the law while this matter is pending before the court,” he said.

The court further granted permission for the university to serve court processes on the fifth respondent at its office located at No. 224, Sabo Bakin Zuwo, Kano.

The case was adjourned to December 29, 2025, for further hearing.

The order was issued under the hand and seal of the presiding judge and duly endorsed by the Principal Registrar of the court.
