The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has given the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the green light to proceed with its scheduled elective National Convention on November 15 and 16, 2025. In a ruling delivered by Justice A. L. Akintola, the court granted an interim order allowing the convention to go ahead as planned in Ibadan, while also directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to attend, monitor, and observe the exercise. The decision followed an ex-parte application filed by Folahan Adelabi against the PDP, its Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, Governor Umaru Fintiri (in his capacity as chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee), and INEC. Adelabi had asked the court to restrain the defendants from truncating, frustrating, or disrupting the PDPs timetable, guidelines, and schedule of activities leading up to the convention. After hearing the application, Justice Akintola ruled in favour of the claimant, stating that he had successfully demonstrated the need for urgent judicial intervention. The court finds merit in the claimants motion ex-parte. The same succeeds and is hereby ordered as prayed, the judge ruled. Consequently, the court granted all interim orders sought, restraining any interference with the PDPs convention timetable and compelling the party and its officials to proceed with the planned exercise. Justice Akintola also adjourned the hearing of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction to November 10, 2025. The courts order, dated November 3, 2025, was issued under the seal of the Oyo State High Court and signed by the Principal Registrar, S. O. Hammed. With the ruling, the PDP is now legally cleared to conduct its national convention in Ibadan, where party delegates are expected to elect new national officers. The post Court clears PDP to hold scheduled national convention appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
