Defection: PDP’s problem didn’t start today – Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has said that the problem in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, did not start today.

Fayose made this statement on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

The former governor was reacting to the current wave of defections rocking the PDP.

DAILY POST reports that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, on Tuesday dumped the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Similarly, barely 24 hours later, Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, defected from PDP to APC on Wednesday.

Reacting, Fayose said, “This is the issue with the PDP. Sometimes when you ask people why are you like this, they will tell you no be today. The PDP problem no be today. The PDP’s problem did not start today.

“Any water where you see shark jumping out, you see that the signs are negative. The presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general elections jumped out of the water.

“I am not a member of the APC and I will never be. I didn’t hide my support for Asiwaju; I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone.”
