Don Jazzy shuts down backlash over health support donation to lady

Music executive and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has publicly defended a young woman, Itohan, following criticism that trailed a private donation he made to support her humanitarian initiative.

The controversy erupted after Itohan took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her Christmas wishes, which included settling personal debts and launching a foundation to support kidney patients. She explained that the idea was inspired by the death of her brother from kidney disease.

Moved by her story, Don Jazzy asked her to outline her needs and later made a donation. However, the gesture quickly sparked backlash online, with some users accusing Itohan of being “greedy” or running a scam.

Responding to the criticism in a post on his X page on Saturday, Don Jazzy firmly defended her, stating that she did nothing wrong by being honest about her needs. He also addressed claims that he selectively supports women, reminding critics of his past donations to causes outside that narrative, including funding a tech initiative.

The music mogul stressed that Itohan’s plan to help people battling health challenges is commendable and should be encouraged rather than attacked. He urged social media users to show empathy, noting that acts of generosity should not be met with hostility.

He wrote on X: “Don’t do that. What exactly did she do wrong? I like to help people when I can. I asked for her wish, and she stated she wants to help people too.

“We all have our wishes, whether big or small. I immediately noticed that people started dragging her so i entered her Dm to try and save her from the long talks on the timeline. Also not to be like i just raised her hopes and left her hanging.

“She didn’t need to come back to the timeline to tell you guys anything as she doesn’t owe anyone anything. Is she a govt official? But because of the too much drags i guess she thought it was best to share the news on the timeline. What is bringing this woman talk now? Is the 20m Laptop brother a woman too?’
