Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged Christians to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice and hope associated with the Easter season.
Governor Adeleke also congratulated Christians in the state and across Nigeria on the celebration of Easter.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described Easter as a significant period symbolising the triumph of life over death and light over darkness.
According to the statement, the governor said “the celebration highlights the importance of selflessness and faith in a better future.”
Adeleke noted that “the sacrifice of Jesus Christ calls for renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.”
He reassured the Christian community in Osun State of his administration’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness and the protection of religious freedom.
The governor stated that his government would continue to build a society where citizens of all faiths can live and thrive without fear or discrimination.
He urged Christians to imbibe virtues such as humility, forgiveness and love, describing them as essential for unity and collective progress.
Adeleke also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to sustain people-oriented governance and improve critical sectors affecting residents.
He cautioned against individuals seeking to exploit religious sentiments for political purposes, warning that such actions could undermine unity.
The governor called on Christians to use the Easter period to pray for Osun State and Nigeria, and to extend acts of kindness to vulnerable members of society.
“As we commemorate this sacred season, I urge all citizens to embrace its message of hope and renewal.
“Our administration remains committed to delivering good governance and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Osun State,” he said.
