
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command, has deployed 1,650 personnel across the state to ensure security during the Easter celebration.
The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, issued the directive in a statement released on his behalf by Adeleke Kehinde, Command spokesperson on Thursday.
Sotiyo ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to mobilise operational teams for constant patrol of all parts of the state.
He said the deployment was “aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring a peaceful festive period.”
According to him, “the personnel would engage in both covert and overt operations throughout the celebration.”
The Commandant disclosed that “the team comprises tactical units, including Counter Terrorism, Rapid Response Squad, Special Armed Squad, Female Armed Squad and Disaster Management units.
“These personnel will protect critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as lives and property across the state.”
He added, “Officers shall be deployed to public places, worship centres, recreation centres, and shopping malls, and would discharge their duties with respect for fundamental human rights.”
Sotiyo also directed officers to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure effective service delivery during the period.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stating that “members of the public should celebrate within the confines of the law and be security conscious.”
The commandant who called on Christian faithful to reflect the teachings of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, wished them a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
