Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that investigations involving some of his associates are politically motivated, claiming that anti-graft agencies are pressuring individuals to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of a possible second-term bid.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Friday, El-Rufai said authorities had already conducted investigations without finding incriminating evidence.
“They have done their investigation and have found nothing. I have been around this system; I know what’s going on. I have an idea of what’s going on there are political motives,” he said.
He added that some academics in the institution were uncomfortable with the situation, alleging they were being pressured.
“Some of the professors in this institution feel very bad; they are being compelled,” he stated.
El-Rufai further claimed that individuals invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission were asked to align politically as a condition for resolving their cases.
“When some of my guys were invited to EFCC and ICPC, they were being asked to join APC and support Tinubu for a second term for the case to be settled.”
“When they were asked to settle it means agree to Tinubu’s second term,” he alleged, referring to the All Progressives Congress.
