The Kano State Censorship Board has warned that it will prosecute commercial tricycle operators who display inappropriate pictures and writings on their vehicles during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman.

According to the statement, the move is part of preparations to ensure that the Sallah festivities are conducted in an orderly and morally acceptable manner across the state.

The Board said it will also monitor recreational centres during the celebrations, particularly to check indecent dressing among youths and prevent situations involving improper mixing of males and females.

The statement further disclosed that the Board has constituted three monitoring committees to oversee activities during the festive period. The committees will operate under the leadership of the Director of Film Production and Development, Usman Dankwano.

The Board also warned that anyone planning to organise Sallah shows, musical events or open entertainment or viewing centres without official approval from the agency will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

The Censorship Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all activities during the Eid celebrations comply with cultural and moral standards in Kano State.
