The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Oyo State has deployed 1,705 officers to strategic locations across the state to strengthen security arrangements ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, announced the deployment while addressing personnel prior to their operational assignment, stating that the officers have been positioned to ensure comprehensive coverage of key public spaces.
According to him, the deployment covers Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, major highways, and other areas expected to experience large gatherings during the festive period.
He explained that the exercise is part of security plan designed to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors before, during, and after the celebrations.
Padonu added that specialised units of the Corps, including surveillance teams, intelligence operatives, counter-terrorism personnel, and emergency response teams, have been placed on heightened alert to respond swiftly to any security incidents.
He further noted that the Corps would collaborate closely with other security agencies to maintain public order, safeguard critical infrastructure, and ensure a peaceful celebration across the state.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the completion of the Ramadan fast, the Commandant issued a warning to individuals or groups who may be planning to disrupt public peace, stressing that the Corps would not tolerate any acts of criminality.
He urged residents to celebrate responsibly, remain law-abiding, and support security agencies by providing timely and useful information to help prevent crime and enhance public safety.
